Interop 2009
At Interop Las Vegas, the Ethernet Alliance showcased and educated conference attendees on the latest Ethernet technologies and trends. Technologies that were showcased within the Ethernet Alliance booth include:
- 10GBASE-T (IEEE Std 802.3an™-2006): High Density 10GBASE-T Interoperability
- Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) (INCITS/T11 and IEEE P802.1Q): FCoE and Data Center Bridging Interoperability
- Power over Ethernet (PoE) (IEEE Std 802.3af™-2003) / PoE+ (IEEE P802.3at): PoE/PoE+ Switches and Midspan Interoperability
- Enhanced Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP+) (SFF-8431): 10 Gigabit Ethernet Optical and Copper SFP+ Module Interoperability

You can also download the Interop FCoE white paper, Storage Traffic in a Converged 10 Gigabit Ethernet Network. This paper describes how 10 Gigabit Ethernet is becoming the new interconnection technology of choice for Storage Area Networks (SANs) using the Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) protocol on an IP-based network and FCoE, a relatively new protocol that maps Fibre Channel over Ethernet, allowing servers, storage, and management devices to communicate over Ethernet links in a converged data center fabric.
